3D printing can be somehow compared to the paper printers that we use in our everyday lives. The difference however is that instead of printing one layer of ink on paper, the process of 3D printing prints several layers of materials say plastic or metal on top of each other, as per the order given in the computer to create an object with 3-dimensional details. This technology isn't that new though, with large industries using it since The 1980s to create models and prototypes. During those days a 3D printer would cost millions of dollars, making it usable and affordable only for large corporate buyers. But in today's world, the cost is rapidly going down where a model is now available for even around $1000, and this has brought new excitement to a lot of ordinary homes.
